The season premiere establishes a galaxy fundamentally changed by time. The Foundation has grown into a dominant interstellar power, exactly as Seldon predicted. But a new, terrifying force has emerged: the Mule, a warlord with the ability to mentally convert entire populations to his cause.
Hari Seldon and Gaal Dornick emerge from 152 years of cryosleep to find a galaxy gripped by fear. The Mule's conquests are rapid and inexplicable — worlds that should resist for years fall in days. Psychohistory cannot explain or predict his movements.
Bayta Mallow and Toran Mallow, descendants of the legendary Hober Mallow, are introduced on Terminus. They witness firsthand the Foundation's growing panic as the Mule's armies advance. The Genetic Dynasty on Trantor is in its twilight years, with Demerzel the only constant.
