Every guide on this site is built from primary sources first. When sources conflict, we resolve them in this order:

1. Asimov's novels and short stories — the Foundation, Robot, and Empire books are the final word on canon.
2. Asimov's own nonfiction — his memoirs and introductions, where he explains his intentions directly.
3. The Apple TV+ adaptation and its official materials — treated as a separate continuity, never blended into book canon without being labeled.
4. Reference works and reputable secondary sources — encyclopedias, award records, and interviews, linked inline where used.
5. Fan and community interpretations — used sparingly and always identified as interpretation, not fact.

This site distinguishes clearly between three layers of material: Asimov's core canon (the fifteen novels and connected short stories), the authorized sequel and prequel novels written by other authors after his death, and the Apple TV+ adaptation, which takes significant creative liberties. When an article draws on the show, it says so explicitly. Book facts and show facts are never mixed without a label.

Interpretive claims — our own analyses and opinions — are written in a clearly editorial voice and are never presented as settled canon.
