Episode Summary
Brother Day reaches the end of his pilgrimage and enters the sacred pool to receive a vision from the Maiden — the goddess worshipped by the galaxy's major religion. The oracle reveals a devastating truth: the Cleon clones do not have souls. They are perfect copies, but the divine spark that makes each human unique is absent.
Day responds to this revelation not with acceptance but with rage and political manipulation, threatening to destroy the religion that challenged his legitimacy. His reaction demonstrates both the Empire's vulnerability and the lengths to which it will go to maintain power.
On Terminus, Salvor develops a strategy using the Vault's null field to turn the Anacreon occupation against itself, demonstrating the kind of creative problem-solving that echoes Salvor Hardin's role in the original novels.

Book Connection
The 'no soul' revelation is original but thematically connects to Asimov's questioning of what makes someone human — a theme central to the Robot novels and the character of R. Daneel Olivaw.
